Anne Stevenson-Yang, Co-Founder, Research Director

Anne Stevenson-Yang founded J Capital Research in late 2007 to provide independent research to institutional investors on poorly understood research targets in China. Anne was formerly co-founder of a group of online media businesses called Blue Bamboo Ventures and also founded and operated a CRM software company, Clarity Data Systems, and a publishing company whose flagship magazine is City Weekend. Over 20 years in China, Anne has also worked as an industry analyst and trade advocate, heading the US Information Technology Office and, 1993 through 1997, the China operations of the US-China Business Council. She began her career in journalism for local newspapers in New York. She graduated from Wesleyan and Columbia universities. Her areas of expertise include traditional media and Internet, technology-driven businesses, development policy, and technological innovation.

Tim Murray, Co-Founder, Managing Partner

Tim Murray has worked in the media, FMCG and government sector in the 16 years he has spent in China. Before co-founding J Capital Research, Tim was CEO of Ringier China a subsidiary of the largest Swiss media company, Ringier AG. Tim is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin), holds a BEc/BA(Hons) in Chinese Political Economy from Macquarie University and did his MBA study at University of Technology Sydney (UTS). His areas of expertise are traditional and new media, ecommerce, consumer and resources.

Rohan Dalziell, Managing Director, Asia Pacific

Rohan has lived and worked in Hong Kong for over 18 years. Most recently he was Managing Director and Head of Regional Company Research at Mirae Asset Securities (HK) Limited where he built and managed a team of over 30 analysts in Hong Kong and Korea. Prior to that Rohan worked as Head of Regional Utilities and Green Energy Research at a number of bulge bracket houses including Nomura, Macquarie, RBS and Baring Securities. Over this time he was consistently a highly ranked analyst both in external surveys and internal client polls and has built a number of strong client relationships both in Hong Kong and globally.

Prior to joining the finance industry Rohan worked at Grant Thornton International, a Chartered Accounting firm based in Perth. He has a Bachelor of Economics majoring in Economics and Accounting from the University of Western Australia and is a Certified Practicing Accountant.

Matt Lowenstein, Analyst

Matthew Lowenstein joined J Capital in July 2011 after getting his MBA at Columbia Business School, where he went through Columbia's value-investing program. Prior to receiving his MBA Matthew worked as a financial analyst at JPMorgan Chase in New York and taught English in Taipei. Matthew's area of focus is Chinese financials. His role models are Ben Graham and Warren Buffett.

Ada Wang, Analyst

Ada joined J Capital in April 2011. She previously led the Project Management Team at Business Connect China, the premier provider of expert consultation, market intelligence and advisory service for the China market. Prior to BCC, Ada was an analyst at JL McGregor & Company where she conducted customized market research, company, and management background checks for institutional investors. After graduating from the Capital University of Economics and Business, she worked for a Chinese engineering company in Turkey. Back in Beijing, she became the first employee of the internet company Blue Bamboo China Ventures, where she did market research and web analytics. 

Qin Shengxian, Analyst

Qin Shengxian joined J Capital Research in May 2011 and focuses on financial analysis. She had most recently been working as an M&A Analyst at BNP Paribas in Paris, focusing on the TMT sector. Before that, she worked for France’s leading power transmission & distribution company, Areva T&D. Shengxian graduated from ESCP Europe (Ecole Supérieur de Commerce de Paris) with a Master's Degree in Management with a major in Finance.
